Why We Deprecated the Mouth
The oral route is a forty-thousand-year-old API with no rate limiting and catastrophic latency. Here is the migration path.
I want to talk about the mouth.
For most of human history, the mouth has enjoyed an unearned monopoly. Every compound, every nutrient, every carefully formulated nootropic we have ever ingested has been forced through the same congested, legacy pipeline: chew, swallow, wait. We accepted this. We shipped on it. We built an entire wellness economy on top of an interface that has not received a meaningful update since the Pleistocene.
At NooGut, we asked a simple question that the incumbents were too polite to ask: what if the mouth is the bottleneck?
The oral route is technical debt
Consider the oral route as a system. You submit a payload. It sits in a highly acidic queue for anywhere from two to six hours. It is then partially degraded by a monolithic processing organ — the liver — which applies aggressive, opinionated transformations to your payload before a fraction of it, sometimes single digits, is finally released to the systemic layer.
No engineer would design this. No engineer did design this. It is emergent legacy infrastructure, and we have been paying interest on it for forty thousand years.
Routing around the liver
The insight that became NooGut was not chemical. It was architectural. If the upper digestive tract is a throttled, high-latency gateway, then the correct move is not to optimize the gateway. The correct move is to route around it.
The lower enteric nervous system is, functionally, an under-provisioned data center sitting idle inside every operator in America. Over five hundred million neurons. The highest local neural density in the body outside the skull. We are not the first to notice it. We are the first to build a delivery layer for it.
The migration path
Deprecating a legacy system is never comfortable. There will be skeptics. There will be people who tell you that the mouth is “fine,” that it has “worked for millennia,” that you are “solving a problem nobody has.” These are the same people who defended the fax machine.
We are not asking you to abandon the mouth entirely. It remains an excellent interface for coffee, for conversation, and for closing. We are simply asking you to stop routing your most important payloads through it.
The future of cognition is not something you swallow. It is something you deploy.
Optimize responsibly.
